Somalia: Puntland Forces Seize Supplies Heading to Golis Mountains

Puntland government forces have seized supplies intended for Al Shabaab terrorist group hiding out in Golis Mountains (Galgala area) and arrested persons involved in facilitating supplies to the terrorists.

Puntland security agencies received information regarding a truckload of supplies heading to Galgala area and the truck and its driver-owner was stopped at a police checkpoint in Puntland’s commercial city of Bossaso on Dec. 13, 2012.

The seized supplies consist of: 40-sacks containing raw foods, including rice, sugar, and flour; 11-cartons containing pasta, cooking oil, tuna fish cans, and tomatoes; 1-sack containing 48-pairs of shoes; and 5-cartons containing an assortment of medicines, including anti-biotic drugs, intra-venous (IV) needles, and drugs used for anti-hemorrhaging purposes.
Puntland government forces arrested the driver-owner of the truck, and the driver-owner and others suspected of facilitating supplies to Al Shabaab terrorists hiding out in Galgala area are under investigation and shall be brought to court.
